Sastra Univ admission for 2011 batch ,

Courses Offered:
B. Tech., M. Tech., MCA, MBA, B.Com (CA), M.Pharm, MS, B. A .LL. B. & LL.B. and Ph.D. programmes in its main campus in Thanjavur and B. Sc., B.Com, BBA, BCA, B. Ed., M. Ed., M. Sc., M. Phil and B. Tech. (CSE, ECE, EEE, IT) courses in its Srinivasa Ramanujan Centre (off- campus centre of SASTRA recognized by Govt. of India) in Kumbakonam. SASTRA does not offer any degree programmes in any other off-campus centre. Please bring to the notice of the admissions office if you find any misuse of SASTRA University ’s name in any other locations. They are not approved by either the Govt. of India or by SASTRA University.
Admission Process:
For B.Tech programmes 70% of the total seats will be filled by SASTRA based on the qualifying +2 exam marks following the process of normalization. To bring all candidates from different examining Authorities / Boards in the same scale of comparison and to create a list in the order of merit, the +2 marks will be normalized.
A first rank student of each board is considered to have obtained 100% mark and aggregate mark of all other students of the board are normalized with reference to that of the first rank student. For example, if the first rank is 97% and an applicant’s aggregate is 90% then the applicant’s normalized percentage is 92.78 (90/97 x 100). A merit list is drawn based on the normalized percentage for making admissions.
Eligibility
Students ,for B.Tech programmes A pass in the +2 examination with Mathematics & Physics as compulsory subjects with either Chemistry / Bio- Technology / Computer Science / Biology and recognized by any State Board / Central Board or any other accepted by SASTRA as equivalent to 10+2 examination, with a minimum aggregate of 60% marks in Maths, Physics and Chemistry / Bio- Technology / Computer Science / Biology obtained in a single sitting. This eligibility criteria is prescribed by AICTE for all Engineering programmes in India.
A student without Maths or Physics in +2 will not be considered for admission to B.Tech. programmes.

Admission Notification: The candidates who have
passed (not before 2010), with the requisite marks as mentioned in the Eligibility Criteria, the Higher Secondary
Examination (10+2 system) conducted by the Council of Higher Secondary Education, West Bengal or an equivalent examination with at least five recognised subjects including English language (full marks not less than 100), will be
eligible to appear in the
admission test for admission to the three year B.A./B.Sc. Honours Course.

Admission Procedure
A candidate will be allowed to apply for at most three Honours subjects (excluding
English and Mathematics). The candidates, who will apply for English or Mathematics, may apply for only one more subject. Eligible candidates, who will apply for admission, will have to appear for an Admission Test for each Honours subject. The final merit list will be prepared on the basis of the aggregate of the percentage of aggregate (of top four subjects) marks obtained in the last public examination and the marks obtained in the respective admission test.
Elegibility
A candidate has to secure at least 40% (for general candidates and 30% for SC/ST candidates) of the highest marks in the admission test, failing which the candidate will be disqualified for admission. The SC/ST candidates will have to secure 75% of the total marks obtained by the last general candidate, otherwise they will not be considered for
admission from reserved
quota (vide Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India Notification No. BC. 16014/1/82-SC&BCD.I dated 6th August 1984).
The SC/ST candidates coming in the first merit list will be considered equivalent to candidates of general category and will not occupy the reserved quota.
The final admission will be
offered strictly on merit,
according to the position in the merit list.
Candidates qualified for more than one subject will be allowed to
express their choice during counselling session on the date of admission. The admission for a particular Honours subject will be completed on one and the same day through this process of counselling.

Rie mysore has invited applications for admission to MScEd course of Academic Year 2011-12. This Integrated Post-Graduate Programme to prepare Senior Secondary School Teachers in Physics / Chemistry / Mathematics) is offered with the following Electives/ Combination:

b) Chemistry
c) Mathematics Minimum

Eligibility for this is a PUC or equivalent with 45% marks in the aggregate and has passed their exams during the academic year 2008-09 with subjects Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
