Admission Notification: The candidates who have
passed (not before 2010), with the requisite marks as mentioned in the Eligibility Criteria, the Higher Secondary
Examination (10+2 system) conducted by the Council of Higher Secondary Education, West Bengal or an equivalent examination with at least five recognised subjects including English language (full marks not less than 100), will be
eligible to appear in the
admission test for admission to the three year B.A./B.Sc. Honours Course.
Admission Procedure
A candidate will be allowed to apply for at most three Honours subjects (excluding
English and Mathematics). The candidates, who will apply for English or Mathematics, may apply for only one more subject. Eligible candidates, who will apply for admission, will have to appear for an Admission Test for each Honours subject. The final merit list will be prepared on the basis of the aggregate of the percentage of aggregate (of top four subjects) marks obtained in the last public examination and the marks obtained in the respective admission test.
A candidate has to secure at least 40% (for general candidates and 30% for SC/ST candidates) of the highest marks in the admission test, failing which the candidate will be disqualified for admission. The SC/ST candidates will have to secure 75% of the total marks obtained by the last general candidate, otherwise they will not be considered for
admission from reserved
quota (vide Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India Notification No. BC. 16014/1/82-SC&BCD.I dated 6th August 1984).
The SC/ST candidates coming in the first merit list will be considered equivalent to candidates of general category and will not occupy the reserved quota.
The final admission will be
offered strictly on merit,
according to the position in the merit list.
Candidates qualified for more than one subject will be allowed to
express their choice during counselling session on the date of admission. The admission for a particular Honours subject will be completed on one and the same day through this process of counselling.
