PBS Teachers has some great activity packs for teachers to use with their classes.

They have packs in arts, health and fitness, reading and language arts, science and technology, and social studies.

The activity packs have PBS resources, such as videos of PBS shows like NOVA, web links, and lesson plans for each topic. There are activities for different grade levels also.

These packs are great ways to have a multimedia, project based lesson for your class.

DNA is a great resource from PBS. The site has resources on DNA separated into episodes. Life, Playing God, Human Race, Curing Cancer, and Pandora's Box are the 5 episodes. Each "episode" is a web page with information about DNA and how it applies to different topics. There are links to more in depth resources, videos, and much more. There is also a timeline of DNA research and discoveries and a 3D DNA Explorer (uses Adobe Shockwave) that allows you to manipulate a 3D image of a DNA segment. You can rotate and zoom in on different parts of the segment.

DNA is a great tool for biology teachers as it gives them and their students scientific information as well as touching on issues relating to society and ethics.

NOVA, from PBS, is a great resource for educators. One of their many educational resources includes an interactive multimedia experience for Exploring the Galapagos islands.

The activity launches in a separate window and starts with a satellite view of the islands' location. Then you zoom into the islands themselves and you can explore the animals and geology of the islands. There are also panoramic views and a section entitled "What Darwin Saw". This section follows Darwin's exploration of the islands, with his written accounts and an audio commentary from biologists.

The site is very well done and can be used in all levels of science classes.

PBS Parents is a great site for teachers to use with their own students and to share with parents of younger students.

The site contains information and resources on early childhood development, fun and games, education and your child, and much more.

There are games and activities to help young children learn and develop properly.

The education section has tips on finding appropriate books for different ages and gives parents (and teachers for that matter) tips on helping children learn math and science. Some of the science activities are really well designed and can be done at home. The science concept is related to everyday things, like cooking, and can stimulate their interest in science.
