When Should You Consider Fertility Treatments

As pleasant as the process of trying to conceive a baby can be, when there’s no resulting pregnancy month after month, it can become very frustrating and depressing for couples. If you’ve been trying to conceive without success, it may be time to consider fertility treatments.
The answer to the question of when to consider fertility treatments is two-fold. The first thing to consider is the woman's age. A woman's fertility peaks in her early 20s and declines as she moves into her 30s. In addition, a woman in her 20s has many more opportunities to conceive than a woman in her late 30s or early 40s. The general rule of thumb is that if you’re under 30 and haven’t conceived within one year of actively trying, it’s time to check with your doctor. If you’re over age 30, and you haven’t conceived within six months of actively trying, it’s time to make the call.
